How is Oil and Gas Industry related to Electrical engineering jobs?

I don't understand how oil and gas industry has anything to do with electrical engineering jobs??
Am I not seeing this because currently I am working as a electronics engineer ?

This is how I am thinking about this - Oil and gas

The oil and gas industry may more be well known to hire chemical engineers or geologists, but EEs are definitely around. For example, chemical processes in refineries have to be monitored and controlled. The computer network that controls these processes

Betsy Elsberry already was putting her freshly minted law degree to use, working in North Dakota’s booming energy sector.

But 16 months ago, the 2008 UND law school graduate and four colleagues at Frederickson and Byron’s Bismarck office decided to take the next step.

In September 2010, the group formed what is now Glynn, Farrell, Seibel, Elsberry and Garner, a law firm devoted almost exclusively to working in the state’s oil and gas market.

“At the previous firm we worked at, it was mainly energy-related,” said Elsberry, 29. “We saw the opportunity and how much work there is out there. We all had the experience necessary to do the work. It’s been pretty rewarding. In hindsight, the decision was pretty easy.”

With more than 2,200 licensed attorneys working in North Dakota, there are lawyers working in every aspect of the law.

But it’s the oil field where many attorneys are finding work.

Where are the jobs?

According to the State Supreme Court website, Bismarck has the largest number of licensed attorneys at 407.
