Mathena Inc., an Oklahoma-based supplier of mud gas pressure control equipment to the oil and gas industries, will build a 7,200-square-foot facility in Southpointe Business Park, Washington County. The company purchased 3.1 acres for $175,000, said Daniel Reitz, executive director of the Washington County Council on Economic Development, the park's owner. Mathena expects to begin building in spring with occupancy late next year. Initially, 10 to 15 will be employed, but the work force could double, Reitz said.
AJA Cigar Co. has opened in 690 square feet at Southpointe Commons, Southpointe Business Park. AJA, which has been in the cigar catering business for several years, offers hand-rolled cigars and coffee, said Andrew J. Andronas, founder and president. Millcraft Industries Inc. handled the lease.
The $17.5 million expansion and renovation of the National Aviary has been awarded a Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. The North Shore project, designed by Springboard Design, was completed in September 2010 and included construction of the Helen M. Schmidt FliteZone Theater and an indoor space for free-flight bird shows, films and educational programming. Mascaro Construction Co. managed the work.
