Metro economy expected to improve in 2012

Of course, predictions are just that - predictions - and trying to guess the future is an inexact procedure, at best.
Still, early signs indicate that Tulsa should kick off 2012 with some positive momentum.
The Tulsa employment outlook for the first quarter is tied for fifth best in the nation, according to the most recent results of the Manpower Employment Outlook Survey.
According to the quarterly survey, 13 percent of the companies interviewed plan to hire from January through March, while 2 percent expect to reduce staff. Another 78 percent expect to maintain their current work force levels, and 7 percent are uncertain of their hiring plans.
Certified public accountants, likewise, are optimistic as illustrated by a recent Economic Outlook Poll from the Oklahoma Society of CPAs in which 54.7 percent said the economy will improve in 2012, down just slightly from 58.7 percent who said the same for 2011.
Economists, too, anticipate more
